Okay, no need to get you car keys ready for this one. Watsonia Shopping Centre is hardly a fashion capital or an exotic shopping destination. If you are after this season's latest trends, try Doncaster or the City. But if what you are looking for is a neat, tidy, friendly shopping town, then you have come to the right place.
I discovered Watsonia Shopping Centre almost by accident - I work in the area and the centre is located just opposite the Watsonia train station. Watsonia used to be a backwater working man's suburb of little importance but with the city living continuing its' slow encroachment into the outlying areas', the 'green belt' is suddenly a trendy place to shop.
The Shopping Centre boasts a few of the usual eateries (a deli, a pizza place, a bakery). There is Watsonia library - handy for when your city train is cancelled again and you have an hour to kill. There is a large-ish 'Salvos' op-shop where some unusual and unexpected items can occasionally be found. I once spotted a golden Versace wristwatch. Real or fake? Who knows, but I didn't dare to risk $50 to find out. Still, maybe I should rewrite that bit about 'backwater working man's suburb'.
