You may see the water taxies floating around the different areas of New York Harbor and other waterways. If you're a local, you may even use these water taxies much like people use regular taxicabs and other public transportation services on land.

That's because New York Water Taxi provides public commuting services as well as sightseeing tours and even private transportation. Locals can literally sail from Manhattan to Brooklyn on a water taxi, giving them a unique way to start and finish their days.

Out-of-towners who want to see some of New York's greatest sights or get to some sporting events quickly can use the water taxis to take a number of tours. Some of the available tours and services are listed here.

Private and Corporate Events

Take your company, school, or other organization on a special outing by chartering a New York Water Taxi for a private event. If you're holding a convention or other similar event in New York City, this is a good way to include family members and others who may have accompanied attendees. Or, think about this. What about holding a wedding on a water taxi? That would be very different.

You can visit the website for more information about reserving a water taxi for a private event, as well as the tours, services, and other things that are available when you do this.

Liberty Tours

Take a water taxi tour to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty monument. Not only will you enjoy the trip there, but you'll be able to sightsee the entire ride over, because you won't be in an enclosed subway car or taxi cab speeding through the streets.

You may be able find packages that include water taxi fares as well as admission to the different attractions on your Liberty Tour. Check the website for more information.

Hop-on/Hop-off Pass

If you want to take advantage of the New York Water Taxi to get around the City while you're sightseeing, purchase the hop-on/hop-off pass. This allows you unlimited access to the Water Taxi and departure from the taxi for one day.

You can get off to look at something that interests you, then hop back on the next taxi that comes along. You don't pay each time, which makes it more economical, and it's definitely one of the most fun ways to see New York City.
