The Royal Court manages to be edgy, yet still a part of that prestigious group of London theatres - the ones with all the tradition, standing and funding. They do a lot of new works, some commissioned especially, so they're often impressively topical and
sometimes even insightful - which is the very best kind of theatre.

Simon Stephens should be something to look forward to. Stephens has done a lot of work for The Royal Court – much of it both critically and popularly acclaimed, and this time he's being premiered here.
Set on the edges of Heathrow Airport, and regarding three couples 'on the brink' as they say in the theatre, the story runs something as follows:
Harry is about to leave England, leaving Frieda behind, who fears she will never see him again. Lisa and Mark are battling with the urge towards sexual betrayal, and Sian and Jonathan are engaged in the negotiation of a frightening deal.
So it sounds as if it will be rife with high emotion. Don't be scared though, many of Stephen's works contain plenty of dark wit as well as
'bare truth'.
