When visiting
Warrandyte, you're spoilt for choice; you can walk by the Yarra, relax at one of the many restaurants or enjoy some shopping. One place that's always bustling with patrons is the
Warran Glen Garden Centre & Cafe, located by the junction of Warrandyte and Jumping Creek Roads.
From the front it appears as a lovely nursery, perhaps a nice spot for a cuppa, and then you enter and come across five acres of sprawling botanics. Warran Glen is not just a nursery, you'll certainly find plenty of plants for sale (hundreds in fact) in the
garden centre. You'll also find a huge
gift shop stocked full with knick knacks, gifts, homewares, clothing, shoes, children's toys, jewellery and so much more.
Heading out into the garden centre and over the footbridge you come across the
cafe. The size of this, too, is deceiving. You can feel at one with nature as you sit overlooking the property. Grab a table outside so the kids can climb on the play equipment and marvel at the ducks, chickens and peacocks; or, take shelter inside where your view remains unobstructed through the windows. The food is fresh and tasty, ranging from soup of the day, to pasta, fish, home made sausage rolls and salads. There's a children's menu too, with sandwiches, chicken and chips and other offerings. If you're after something sweet for morning or afternoon tea, there's a selection of cakes and fresh scones with jam and cream. You can find the
menu here.
Warran Glen is almost always busy – so it's wise to
book in advance if you plan to stop by for a bite to eat.
The Garden Centre and gift shop are open from 9am – 5pm daily, and until 5:30pm in Spring and Summer. The cafe is also open daily from 9am – 5pm, with breakfast served from 9am – 12pm and lunch from 12pm – 3pm.
