This weekend the War Heritage Roadshow 2017 will visit Bendigo for two days. The event, which is being organised by the Grimwade Centre for Cultural Materials Conservation, is focusing on the conservation of Australia's war heritage in personal, family and community collections. The first day will therefore be a consultation day, while the second day has been designated the activity day.

On the first day, Friday the 28th, three experts will be available for 20 minute individual consultations. The experts available for consultations are Jude Fraser (who specialises in paper-based wartime memorabilia including photos, prints, documents and diaries), Holly Jones-Amin (who specialises in 3D artefacts including uniforms, military kit and equipment, medals and textiles) and David Gardner (who will assist with general and historical information). Please note that there are STRICTLY NO WEAPONS OR MUNITION allowed. However, if you would like advice about these items, simply bring a photo.

Then on the second day, Saturday the 29th, there will be a "Caring for Wartime Memorabilia" talk as well as rolling demonstrations throughout the day. The demonstrations on offer include cleaning of metals, checking and preventing insect attack, disaster preparedness in the home, removing photographs from magnetic albums, researching military history and medal information, as well as the preventive and storage of textiles memorabilia.

For those with War memorabilia, this is an event not to be missed. However, if you can not make this weekend, the War Heritage Roadshow is continuing through the year at multiple locations across the state.
