Spring is coming, right?

I am waiting for spring to knock on my door and sweep me off my feet saying I'm back baby. Nah, my life is usually not this dramatic. The reason why I'm waiting for spring is because I like taking long walks around the city, not just along Swanston St.

About a month before winter, my daily (almost) routine was to rush back home, fling my bag into my room and start walking. I didn't think about where to go. I just thought, the weather is nice today, let's walk to some faraway place, away from people, from friends, from all the hustle and bustle of life. As a side joke, I like to say 'the weather is horrible today, let's skip our class and/or the weather is nice today, it's such a waste to go to classes'. This is a bad joke. Please go to classes rain or shine.

As a young person, I truly feel that all young people should spend this time walking, jogging, rolling around in the grass, napping on the street, wait perhaps not the last one. As we get older, our priorities change. We'd want to work, bring home the bacon, raise kids, clean the house, mow the lawn so the neighbours think we are neat, be responsible people and do everything that the society expect out of us. You'll probably find yourself so weary, so stressed, so in need of time.

This is the time for us to do nothing, folks. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Wasting time is the luxury and privilege we have as young people. Trust me, you'll thank me later.

Apologies for straying off the topic. Yes, so one day I decided to explore the areas surrounding Melbourne Uni. I walked along Grattan St., and then Elizabeth St. and turned here and there until I find myself, well how should I put it, lost. By lost, I really do mean I couldn't find a road different to the road I took to get to that point that leads back to where I came from. Why would I want to take the same road back? I mean who does that? Unfortunately Google showed me that there is no other road, and so my adventure came to an abrupt end by following the road I took, back to civilisation.

My favourite walking paths:
- Down Swanston St. towards St. Kilda beach.
- Collins St. (walking while window shopping)
- La Trobe St. from Swanston St., towards Flagstaff Park.
- Federation Square along the river.

Having some access to maps is useful. In case you get lost.

Best time to explore is from mid-autumn to early winter, when the sun sets at about 6 or 7, and mid-spring before the weather gets too hot.

Hope you enjoy this as much as I do!
