I enjoy discovering new places around Melbourne and then sharing these hidden gems with all of you.

Nestled in the western suburbs of Melbourne is the suburb of Maribyrnong. It is probably most famously known as being the postcode of Highpoint Shopping Centre, but there is much more to this historic community than just shopping.

The City of Maribyrnong council has set up a series of free guided walks to encourage residents and visitors to get to know the neighbourhood, meet new people, and learn a bit about the history and culture of the suburb. The walks go for around 2 hours, and the current program can be viewed here.

Different walks are constantly being added, so if the current programs do not catch your interest, be sure to check again at a later date. This activity is a great one for the whole family. It is educational, a great way to get some fresh air and best of all it is free.
