Walking For Weight Loss - Chriss Tinslay

On a quiet Saturday morning at Chipping Norton, there is a group of people doing a variety of exercises for one hour each week for eight weeks. Chriss Tinslay is a food and fitness coach who runs a variety of exercise groups.


The one I have just completed was a walking group with low-impact exercises that incorporates workouts and weight loss education that meets at Homestead Park. It's a picturesque location overlooking Chipping Norton Lake. In my local area, there are no low-impact exercise groups that incorporate education on nutrition, so I chose to drive 45 minutes to Chipping Norton each Saturday morning. I reasoned that a group would motivate me to get fitter, lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.


For the low-impact group, Chriss not only led us through the fitness but she also discussed nutrition - what we eat and drink each week (energy in) and how much we move each week (energy out). Over the eight weeks, we were regularly emailed motivational tips and videos to show how to do specific exercises. Chriss also discussed the benefits of good nutrition and posted useful information on her Facebook page daily. She didn't tell us to ban our favourite foods if a person had been eating it for some time. She encouraged us to cut down on sugary and fatty foods and to clear out tempting foods from our kitchens.


The walking workout for eight weeks is $160. After completing her eight week workout, I have lost weight, feel fitter (and fabulous) and am motivated to continue to live a healthier lifestyle. Chriss is now taking bookings for next term.
