Walkabout Creek is aptly named. You can walk around it very happily on long lazy Sunday afternoons. You can entertain the kids or the grandparents and stroll around this Centre, which is adjacent to the Enoggera Dam but also only 12 kms from the city centre. There are various tracks leading out from the Centre which you can take for a more extensive walk. The Walkabout Creek Wildlife Centre is a well organised exhibition centre and has a small animal enclosure where you can see the animals and even experience some animal encounters.

On Sunday the 26th of October 2014 at 9 am at Walkabout Creek you can join a guided walk given by a volunteer. You will hear about the plants and the animals of the area and even get to see some of them. These walks take place on a regular basis so if you are interested and cant make this date, go to the website to find out when the next guided walk will take place.

This is a free guided walk but those interested should book their place by calling 07 3512 2300.

The Centre is a great place to see some of the wildlife of South East Queensland, such as wallabies and wombats. If you venture further from the Centre along the dam, you will see many birds, ducks and terrapins.
