Wahaca is supposed to be Mexican street food in London. Which isn't quite possible. But it does its best.
They don't take bookings which means that a lot of the time you have to queue for a table, but if you can get to Covent Garden at the right time it means that you can have a cocktail or two while you wait and enjoy the busy atmosphere that comes from other people having to queue as well.
And when you get to the bar, or are seated, it's well worth it for what you'll pay: enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos and salads (tostadas), served in bowls made out of giant corn chips, are all good value for money, with flavours mixed carefully and consistently. And with a bottle of acceptable wine or a Margarita or two for around £40 per couple.
Definitely have the Wahaca pork scratchings – whatever the Mexican version is called – and a Margarita, which are WAY better than average. And don't expect wonders, but it's good value for money and the flavours are the real thing. So it's worth a try, especially if you can time it right.
