Australia Zoo (1638 Steve Irwin Way, Beerwah) is well known for providing its guests with an up close and personal view of the animals, but what if that isn't enough? If you really want to walk with the animals, a volunteering stint may be just the thing you're looking for.

Australia Zoo takes on two different types of volunteers.

Animal Volunteers are responsible for general care of the animals, which includes preparing their food, taking them for walks and cleaning the enclosures, as well as entertaining the more social animals and helping guests to be seated during animal shows.

Customer Relations Volunteer duties involve welcoming guests and ensuring their enjoyment at the zoo. This can include assisting lost visitors, providing assistance at promotional events and working in the enclosures to answer questions and help younger children pet the animals.

Volunteers must be at least sixteen years old. Volunteering blocks involve a minimum of five consecutive days and a maximum of one month. To register your interest, fill out the online form here.
