[BREAK]They say that in times of social upheaval, the antidote lies in looking back to the nostalgia of happier days. If you are looking for some retro, rose tinted glasses to alter your perspective, I am sure you will find a pair to suit you at the Vintage Collective markets , happening at Midland Railway Workshops this Sunday the 29th Jan from 11.00 - 3.00. It has all the ingredients of a fun day out the whole family will enjoy. Cars, stalls, food, music, kids entertainment and the chance to raise funds for Telethon too.

Greased Lightning

[BREAK]They were our first loves and our secret dreams. The very first rock 'n' roll song, 'Rocket 88', was even written about one. Everyone has a car in their past they still fondly remember and classic cars never fail to bring out the retro rev head in me. Whether you're into whitewall tyres and fins, or are more turned on by hot rods and chrome, the Show and Shine car show features pre 1980's rides, in both a rolling show (on Main Gate Lane) and a static show (in Block 2). Who knows what you might see? Bikes and vintage caravans have been known to make a drive by on occasions.

Jump jive and Wail

[BREAK]No vintage market would be complete without music. Whilst the 50's did create that most feared creature, the 'teenager', it also came up with some great music to keep it entertained too. Vintage Collective Markets have some fabulous artists lined up to really keep the joint jumping, 'The Surf Mist', a local 4 piece band playing 60's surf inspired grooves is at 11.00am, there's music from Ian Wright and Ellie Busker, with the bluesy, rockabilly sound of the '10 String Ramblers' tying up the event from 2.15

[BREAK]
Pinup Perfection
One of the highlights must be Miss Lady Lace's, 'Pretty as a picture pinup parade and workshop'. You might be able to enter the contest online , or just watch the action to pick up some tips on how to put some pep in your pin curls or some va va voom in your victory rolls. This is a fabulous celebration of the beauty and individuality of all women, regardless of size, shape or ethnicity. The emphasis is on confidence, having fun and making friends with your inner pin up.

Shop like it's 1959

[BREAK]Oh, the things, buy all the things. There's an Aladdin's Cave of everything you need to buy including some things that you didn't know you needed. Browse through a myriad of stalls offering clothing, jewelry, collectibles, vintage and retro items, quirky gift ideas, chocolates, toys and man shed items to name but a few. Then when you've shopped till you've dropped, refuel at one of the many specialty food trucks and start all over again.

**Kidding around
**

[BREAK]There are also plenty of activities throughout the day to keep the little darlings amused too. In the pink zone there will be face painting and a bouncy castle. Kids can even get involved in some giant bubble fun, whilst you squeeze in that final bit of shopping. Sigh, it's a hard life.
