Brisbane has another contender in the weekend markets stakes, courtesy of the people who brought you the
West End Green Flea Markets. These new markets are also an inner city trash and treasure bazaar.
The
Village Markets (
Blamey Street, Kelvin Grove) are an extension of the successful West End event and are similar in spirit. The weekly market will be held every Saturday from 6.00am until 1.00pm and will host more than ninety assorted stalls. Visitors will have fruit and vegetables, organic and gourmet foods, plants, flowers, arts and crafts, second hand goods and various other bric-a-brac to select from.
These markets will be held in the
Kelvin Grove Urban Village and in keeping with the village principle, as well as mimicking the community spirit of the West End markets, the Village Markets will showcase the talents of locals with street buskers, performers and ethnic food and relics displays. Weary customers can relax with a cup of coffee or a snack from one of the many food stalls, or pop into a nearby eatery like Beadles on the Quad (
149 Victoria Park Road) or Kgb Urban Bar and Restaurant (
6/62 Blamey Street).
If you would like to host a stall at these markets, call organisers on (07) 3870 2807.
As the markets are held in the Urban Village Shopping Centre, there is free parking for all customers. Entry to the markets is also free.
