If you have had enough of trawling through the restaurants of the Parade and are still hungry for some modern Australian cuisine then you may want to give Vileroy a try. Located on Kensington road just up from that infamous round-about, Vileroy shows that food can be simple and delicious, in a setting that is modern and relaxed.

This is one of those places that you can head to for a coffee and then just don't want to leave for lunch. The seating has a mixture of small tables as well as very comfortable sofas where you can sit and dine in style. There is Wi-Fi throughout the restaurant as well which makes it a great place to catch up on your emails. As it is quite popular there is always a good buzz of people, conversation and the clinking of coffee cups and wine glasses to keep you occupied, even before you get to the food.

The menu at Vileroy is quite small but for the most part, pared back and delicious. For lunch it is hard not to choose the Croque Monsieur which comes with a side salad and wouldn't be out of place on a table in Paris. The side of chips is also a favourite and the generous portion can easily be tackled by a couple of hungry lunchers. Specials are also available throughout the day and are explained by the friendly waiting staff with aplomb.

If coming to Vileroy for dinner, you may want to book as it has become almost the wine-bar central of Kensington. Maybe because the wine list is good and fairly reasonable or just because it is such a pleasing space to spend time in. Wine is available by the glass or the bottle and it is also possible to bring your own if you prefer. Dinner options include a lot of local produce served in interesting ways and the dessert menu is divine.

Vileroy is a great place to visit for a special occasion dinner or to splash out on for a decadent lunch, but it could easily become your favourite stopping point for its coffee alone.
