It has been a labour of love since 2010 for the National Trust (Victor Harbor Branch) and the City of Victor Harbor but in November 2016 the Council announced the completion of the all-new .

The new trail celebrates Victor Harbor's rich and diverse history in a self-guided easy walk past 38 heritage buildings within the Town Centre of Victor Harbor.

Since 2010, the City of Victor Harbor identified many State and Local Heritage listed buildings and provided them with a blue heritage plaque. While there are over 50 plaques throughout the township, each one outlining and promoting Victor Harbor's built heritage, the heritage trail focuses on a selection in the town centre, which are within a comfortable walk that takes around 1.5 hours.

The trail commences at the Harbourmaster and Deputy Collector Customs House near the foreshore where the National Trust Museum resides to provide an opening insight into some of the history of the town. From there the Trail heads through the railways district before heading towards the main shopping district and Ocean Street.

Continuing further north the trail passes the old Tennis Clubhouse and an old Railway Cottage on its way to the communal part of the town where the first primary school, the headmaster's house, town hall, institute and churches feature prominently with long-standing grand buildings.

The trail then returns to Ocean Street passing some current and former banks and the Victa Theatre before reaching the Coffee Palace, a building which once turned heads for the quality of coffee that it served.

Today, most of the heritage buildings on the trail are in alternative use through a clever and creative adaptive re-use program which has been encouraged and supported by the National Trust and the City of Victor Harbor.

Further details on the , including maps, are available from the Victor Harbor Visitor Information Centre , the City of Victor Harbor office and various traders along the main streets of Victor Harbor.
