Helen Duff has cooked up an act which will tantalise your comedic tastebuds and challenge your concept of the commercial break!
Duff has brought her brand new solo show
, fresh from the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe to delight audiences of the
Adelaide Fringe .
Whilst there was some confusion as to where we had to go once we'd landed in the
Coffee Pot ; a funky speak-easy style bar on the Adelaide small bar scene, we eventually made our way up the stairs from a bygone era to what can only be described as the scarlet room.
The stage was set with all the ingredients to entertain us for the next hour.
Helen delighted us with her gorgeous smile and coiffured attire, straight out of a 50s newspaper ad about some new gadget or device for the modern house wife.
The audience participation was as always frightfully challenging at first, but as we settled in for the show a comfortable repartee evolved allowing for an opportunity to laugh at ourselves in a most disarming way.
Her "cooking show" pitch delved into the depth of both the light hearted and the deeply troubling inner world of an anorexic mind. We saw an evolution of the human spirit through her banter, her cooking and her interruptive commercial breaks. Her connection with the audience is unwavering as she brought us along on her bicycle ride of mirth and madness.
Sometimes hilarious, sometimes confusing, but always entertaining.
Playing at The Coffee Pot in James Place from Feb 13th to 24th and at The Producers Hotel on Grenfell from Feb 28th to Mar 9th.
