Now the secret is out. This little gem of a place has been established in Ascot since 2005 and I have only just found it. I was searching for certain delicatessen products and this place 'popped up'. "Oh, we can go and have coffee and speciality cakes here as well"; so off we went. These places are really special and it is always a 'treat' to find them when you do.

Offering delicious and delicately made 'home made' cakes, sausage rolls, salads, sandwiches and good tasting coffee. The sausage roll with the light golden fluffy pastry was 'sold' as soon as I saw it, along with a delicate little sponge cup cake for my 'sweet' option.

The only difficult thing about these places, is making the decision on what you are going to have. Oh, and Vanilla pod has a signature cake, the Red Velvet Cake
"a moist, ruby red sponge hidden by a scrumptious white cream cheese frosting and finished with drunken cherries and gold dust". Vanilla Pod is certainly a place to consider for special occasion cakes; weddings, valentines, birthdays, farewell, welcome, or for any occasion to impress.
