Welcome to Van Loon's

An award winning nursery on the Bellarine Peninsula, Van Loon's is a much loved destination for local residents and holiday-makers alike. With a gift shop, garden-art gallery, playground, plant displays and cafe', Van Loon's gives plenty for visitors to browse through. Its shady trees and colourful flowers, make the nursery a pleasant location in which to spend the afternoon.

A stroll around Van Loon's is gently soundtracked by music played through outdoor speakers. While admiring different foliage and floral combinations, it's possible to chat to nursery workers who quietly attend the plants.

Many parts of the nursery give examples of the formal garden style with elegant topiaries, and shaped hedges. Van Loon's stock the plants and pots for anyone who wants to mimic the look in their own backyard. They also have a range of coastal plants like yellow buttons and pink rosemary, appropriate to the area.

Garden sculptures of buddahs, water nymphs and dragons peek out from behind grass trees and acacias. One entire, multi-roomed shed at Van Loon's is dedicated to outdoor garden furniture and wall art. It has enormous, artistic, wire sculptures, mosaic tables, bird-baths, trickling water features, wind-chimes, carnival flags, and thick doormats to investigate.

Many garden sculptures adorn the grounds

In Van Loon's gift shop, peruse elegant finery like, Castebel Porto soaps, lotions with fragrances such as cucumber and green tea, coffee cups, tea cups, Punch Studio pocket notepads, Cosgrove and Beasley and b.sirius bags, Ulster Weave aprons, teatowels and oven mitts, candelabras, bowls, quilts, slippers, pyjamas and tall, cabinets full of sparkling jewellery.

The Van Loon's Cafe can be found within the main garden area. It's housed in a cute bungalow and the cafe is good for a cake and coffee during a visit (or might be the purpose of a visit). The cafe has a giant chess set, toilets and a playground nearby. There also an ice-cream fridge for treats on those hot, summer days.

Plants, pots, garden furniture and art

If you're unable to travel all the way to Van Loon's, you can still have the shopping experience on-line. Van Loon's will ship packets of seeds to addresses within Australia. However, by not visiting in person, you miss the opportunity to say hello to Van Loon's resident guinea pigs and to add the nursery to a day's itinerary of touring the local wine region at vineyards such as Leura Park and Oakdene nearby.
