I have been watching Van Gogh Sunflowers fade away on the ticket holder that I bought at the National Gallery in London years ago. This fading away keeps giving me a nudge - I must go back. I must go back for more, for more impressions, sights, memories...

As it turns out, I will not go back to London just yet. National Gallery of Victoria in conjunction with Art Exhibitions Australia are bringing Van Gogh to my hometown, Melbourne.

From 28 April to 9 July from 10 am to 5 pm daily, National Gallery of Victoria will be the place to go for a taste of the master.

Van Gogh and The Seasons is exclusive to Melbourne and features Van Gogh's works depicting all four seasons of nature. Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer are as different as every day we live, as every feeling we have and every obstacle we are faced with.

If you know anything about Van Gogh, you would know the story of his cut ear, his fight with illnesses and depression. Not many of you would know that Van Gogh had forsaken his place in the church and his post as a pastor because it (pastorship) did not give him any power to correct injustices in the world. Also, it could come to you as a surprise (it did for me) that the master had a room in an asylum booked (permanently) where he would retreat to paint his masterpieces (famous Starry Night was created in the asylum).

Well, you are free to learn about the artist at your own time. However, please make some time this autumn and winter to come to the exhibition. For those of you living outside Melbourne, make a trip. It will be worth it.

As I have mentioned before, the exhibition is open daily from 28 April to 9 July from 10 am to 5 pm. The exhibition is accompanied by numerous presentations, concerts, talks and master classes.

Tickets are $28.00/$24.50/$10.00
