Nothing tastes better than a cool ice cream on a hot Summer's day. But the chilled ice cream tastes equally good in the winter.



In a quiet little town near Hobart, you will find an amazing ice cream parlour in Moonah called Valhalla.

As you stand before it, you will find yourself being lured by its old-fashion retro charm. You will find yourself in a dessert wonderland as soon as you step in.



The playful atmosphere is authentic and the aroma is delightfully sweet. Everywhere you look, you will see some old favourites from your childhood - the up-lifting decorations, the novelty confectionery range, the award-winning ice cream range and the familiar friendliness of an old-fashion corner-store. It is sure to appeal to the young and old alike.



Valhalla Ice Cream is one of Tasmania's best exports and they have been manufacturing quality ice cream in Tasmania for over 20 years. Their ice creams are rich and creamy using the finest ingredients.



You can sample as many flavours as you like (without getting that judgmental look). The staff are happy to oblige and we love that generous attitude!

My cousins eyed the Jamaican coffee with great interest. It was blended with coffee beans (0.5%) with a hint of Jamaican rum and a smooth chocolate ripple sauce (7.5%). It sounded like a perfect dreamy choice. However, they were also tempted by the 2009 Gold medal award winning vanilla ice cream that was loaded with extra ground vanilla beans.



Unable to decide, my cousins settled on a double scoop of the Jamaican coffee and the award-winning vanilla beans ice cream. It tasted rich, creamy and it was every bit as exciting as it sounds.

The star attraction for me was definitely the famed lavender ice cream. The lavender ice cream has an unique taste and it was amazingly delicious. It was smooth, creamy and full of flavour. It is definitely a must-try flavour.



If you can just look away from the 50 delightful flavours of ice cream in front of you for a minutes, look up and you will see rows and stacks of colourful candies, lollies, sweet confectionery and chocolates tempting your sweet tooth. It's just like when I was a kid.



It's a small ice cream parlour but it has indoor seating. Unlike many other busy takeaway-only ice cream joints, you can actually enjoy your ice cream sitting down.

The ice cream is a little on the expensive side, in comparison with the big franchise brands, but the quality makes it worth every cent.



Everyone needs a good scoop of ice cream (or two) from time to time. Unleash your inner child and satisfy your child-like curiosities and desires while you sample all the sweet delights. "Could time-travel be this easy?" is what you will be wondering while you are here.
