So it is that time of the year again.
Valentine's Day!
Now, I don't know about you, but for me - this is a day that I take pretty seriously. Agreed that there shouldn't be just one day when you can profess your undying love for your significant other, but the celebrations surrounding this very special day of romance adds to the mood. After all, everyone likes to know that they are the special person in someone's life.
For a very marginal fee of $25, you can treat yourself and your significant other to a date that will truly be a great surprise and be a fantastic way to show them how much you love them.
There is no better feeling than the feeling of freedom out at sea, sipping on some delicious champagne and being in the company of the one who makes your world.
We arrived at the Port about a half hour early so that we could get our passes and not have to worry about waiting in line. It also helps with speeding up the process of boarding the cruise ship and finding your table early.
The view of the sea is pretty spectacular and it gets better as the cruise commences!
We lined up to board the cruise ship, and once inside, we felt royal, as though we had stepped back in time. It was a good feeling.
The interior of the cruise ship looked dated but intricate. It had little exhibits set out (particularly around the bar on the bottom deck) with quaint little artifacts representing boats and the sea.
The top and bottom decks were beautifully decorated with red hearts, pink flowers and well-arranged tables with our names on it. It was especially special to share a relatively small but cosy-sized table with my partner with red tissue paper and a red rose in a vase conveniently located on it. It really made us feel like Valentine's Day couldn't get any more romantic!
The staff aboard the Port Princess are very hospitable and always there to cater to your needs. They are extremely polite and behave in a compassionately professional manner.
We started our dinner cruise at 630pm sharp and were delightfully presented with some guests from the sea who accompanied us throughout this wonderful journey.
The Captain occasionally drew our attention to the dolphins along the sides of the cruise ship, which made our day! There was a point where we saw about 5 dolphins jumping across the sea all at once.
He also often spoke about the historical aspects of the Port River, and showcased some of the submarines, power stations and other interesting landmarks that were in our course.
Make sure you keep an eye out for the dolphins who will occasionally jump around the sides of the boat, and if you can, make your way to the top deck, from where you can best enjoy the view.
Due to the forecast that day being rain and storm, we had a bit of a grey ambience, but the occasional rainbow added to the natural beauty of the sea.
One of the lovely waitresses took our order prior to the commencement of the cruise, and not long after brought us our appetite pleasers. And I can assure you - our appetites were very satisfied by the end of the feast.
My partner decided to order some battered fish and graciously decided to share some with me. We both agreed that the fish was cooked to perfection - very soft yet firm at the same time, nice and hot, and served with delicious fries and salad dressed with Caesar salad dressing. A winner, for sure!
I decided to order the chicken schnitzel with regular gravy, fries and salad on the side. It was well-cooked and treated my tastebuds to a little picnic with their flavours.
For dessert, we both opted for chocolate cake to keep it simple and romantic, since we both are die-hard fans of chocolate. It was especially delicious to eat, because my partner and I fed each other our first bites.
The presentation of the food was equally appetising as their taste, so I would highly recommend their food to you. It may not be fancy, out-of-the-ordinary lobster-style of a dish, but it does the job...well!
Although the serves felt more like an entree rather than a main course, it was a generous enough portion that will leave you satisfied for at least 3-4 hours.
After the meal was complete, my partner and I decided to make our way up to the top deck of the ship, where we sat by the bow of the ship and sipped on delicious wine while admiring the scenery.
It was the perfect way to enjoy the cruise and end on a very good note. Most couples from the boat gather around the bow to enjoy the spectacular beauty that surrounded us, so it's also a great opportunity to meet new people and talk about each other's love stories.
Overall - it was one of the best evenings of my life spent with a man who loves me and whom I love back. It is such a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend everyone to give Port Princess a chance. Visit their website for more information - dates about upcoming cruises, pricing, group bookings, the works.
Sit back, relax and enjoy a beautiful Valentine's Day with people who will take good care of you and make sure that they add to the beauty of your special day with your special one.
