I'm an inner-city rambler who's happy to share my best finds with you. My writing turns up in the local street press, magazines, and more. (This week's pic: rainwashed squishy-flower plants, Kurilpa Street.)
Ten independent artists will show and sell their works for one night only in the Vaguely Monsters exhibition at South Brisbane's
Art Factory Gallery on Saturday 25 February.
Curious and beautiful paintings, photographs, collages and sculptures will be for sale 'off the wall' on the night (pay and take 'em with you folks). Prices will be reasonable, and you can go home with a unique artwork that you can call your very own.
There'll also be a market stall with local hand-made goodies, and some children's art on display. Kids are welcome to come along.
Participating artists include Kim Kofod, Angus Munro, Justine Wake, Andrew Roberts, Alex and David Teeland, and Simon Martin -- a loose collective of friends and artists who showed last year in the
First Run Art Show at West End.
Their work ranges from vivid abstract paintings to surrealist-tinged black-and-white photographs.
Also featured in First Run was local artist Caro Toledo, who specialises in collages and digital images. Caro held her
first solo exhibition late last year at the Alliance Francaise gallery on Montague Road at West End.
Artists Steve Brown and David Chick will also contribute to Vaguely Monsters.
This is a great chance to see some interesting art and maybe even buy a piece to take home. You can also snap up something from the market stall, or have a chat to one of the artists.
Hope to see you there.
