Do you think you can dance? Are you a young man who would like to star in a stage show at the
Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts (
420 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley)? If so, Lucy Geurin Inc wants you.
The Judith Wright Centre will host
Lucy Geurin Inc's Untrained, a stage experience that uses trained and untrained performers. The company is searching for local guys to fulfil the untrained portion of the show. Auditions are open to any lads who have not had any formal training. The successful candidates will receive a weekly wage during rehearsal and performance times.
To try out, be at the audition workshop at the Judith Wright Centre on 7 March from 3.00pm until 6.00pm. There is no need to prepare a routine – just show up! Participants will need to be available between 7 and 14 May, when the show runs, and for rehearsals beforehand.
Untrained is a unique theatre experience that combines dance, theatre and comedy. The show involved four performers, two of whom are professionally trained dancers, two of whom are not. The performers are then given a list of actions to perform – fall down, sing, walk in slow motion. The instructions range from the silly to the humorous and provide interesting insight into the movements of different people.
Untrained has been shown in Adelaide, Sydney and Hong Kong and is directed by Lucy Guerin, a dancer with an international reputation. The Lucy Guerin Inc dance company was formed in 2002 to create new dance works.
