The masque of 14th century France saw a folk tradition of masked players calling unexpectedly on nobility in their grand halls, creating an elegant performance that seduced spectators to join the dance and celebrate. On October 17th, the mystery and charm of historic France, and Italy with its ongoing Carnival of Venice will grace the William Magarey Room at Adelaide Oval. 'Unmask the Silent Crime' is a stand-up cocktail style masquerade ball being held to raise awareness and funding for a relevant cause.

In support of White Ribbon Australia , this charity event invites guests to don their most elaborate disguises, becoming those spectators of folk times with a modern day twist. Romanticizing a scene of Paris or Venice, we can imagine overlooking ancient canals and ruins. And amidst the opulence of gilded masks, frivolous feathers and dazzling gems these participants share a kindred alliance, celebrating their freedom to express themselves, and embrace joy in a safe and supported life. Celebrating the hope of making a difference.

Waiters will drift amongst carefree guests enjoying delicacies and welcome refreshments. Music will waft through the sophisticated scene. Prizes will be auctioned and raffled.

Jodie Oddy , top rating Mix 102.3 breakfast show host and Nine Network personality, will MC. Revellers are guaranteed a wonderful night of fun and entertainment. And at the very heart of the evening is White Ribbon Australia's campaign to stop violence against women. Powerfully intelligent Arman Abrahimzadeh will stand as ambassador for 'Unmask the Silent Crime'. In recognition of the freedom we possess, October 17 provides an opportunity to take away the mask, and add voice in support of domestic abuse victims. " I swear never to commit, never to excuse and never to remain silent about violence against women" (from White Ribbon campaign).
