Mum is too special for the ordinary. She does so much for us so often it is easy to take her for granted. Mother's Day is our chance to say thank you. Thank you for being there through thick and thin, for going the extra mile even when she was exhausted, for caring when no-one else cared.

Take some time to treat Mum to a relaxing and indulgent day and why not choose something a little different. A boat cruise, dining on a heritage tram, a bus tour, a forest bathing retreat, a fun run, a spa treatment, amazing views, or a spa treatment.

[SECTION]Mother's Day Lunch Cruise on the Yarra[/SECTION]

Mum will appreciate a day off from preparing the family meals on Mother's Day but imagine her delight if instead of the local restaurant, her dining experience is aboard the Spirit of Melbourne floating restaurant. The Spirit of Melbourne is a double decked boat with floor to ceiling windows. Tables and facilities are as they would be in any restaurant of class.

Spend some quality family time while taking in some of Melbourne's most magnificent scenery, lush landscapes and elegant buildings by day and city lights by night. Melbourne River Cruises is offering a choice of lunch or dinner cruises.

You will be hard pressed to choose between the five main courses on offer which include such gourmet delicacies as Char-grilled chicken breast, garlic prawn on a bed of mashed potato, green bean and creamy green peppercorn sauce or Pan fried Moroccan salmon avocado salsa, and caper mayonnaise. The children's menu offers two choices. The full menu is available on their website and your selections are made at the time of booking.

The main course is followed by a selection of mini desserts that need to be seen to be believed and tea or coffee served with a chocolate. Wine, beer, soft drink and orange juice are included and available in abundance.

Bookings are made on the website. The food is good, the service impeccable and the views stunning. What more could you ask for?

[SECTION]Champagne Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner on the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant [/SECTION]

The Colonial Tramcar Restaurant is not one tram but is the world's first fleet of travelling tramcar restaurants, a fitting tribute to a city renowned for its trams. Coloured a distinctive burgundy inside and out, they are hard to miss.

Mum could not help but feel like a queen in such beautiful colonial style surrounds, seated at tables set with pristine white table cloths, on seats with studded velvet upholstery, looking out windows furnished with elegant burgundy drapes. To step in these trams is to step back in time, but don't worry, despite their meticulous attention to period décor the trams are air conditioned and stabilised for a comfortable ride.

This year the Colonial Tramcar Restaurant is offering champagne breakfast, luncheon and early dinner.

Breakfast is a scrumptious four courses which includes seasonal fruit, freshly baked croissants and egg enveloped in an herb crepe and of course, champagne. If that has left your mouth watering imagine what is in store for Mum at the four course luncheon or three course early dinner.
