Still haven't decided what to give your mum on Mother's Day? Why not go beyond the usual flowers/book/pyjama gifts and create a special memory that your mum won't forget in a hurry.

1. Book a Photo Session

Does your mum complain that she never looks good in photos? Then book a photo session with a professional photographer. And why not take it one step further and organise a make-up artist to create a special look for her. She will feel pampered and will have lots of beautiful photos she will be proud to show off. For Sydneysiders, check out Martinette Photography and i-Blush make-up .

2. Plan A Picnic

If you are on a limited budget, this is the perfect gift. Plan a picnic with your family and ask everyone to bring a plate. Don't tell your mum where you are going and perhaps even blind fold her to keep her guessing where she will end up. Sydneysiders, check out a list of Sydney's best parks .

Here is a picnic checklist to make sure you don't forget anything:

Easy to eat foods – visit recipes&x=0&y=0 taste.com.au for great picnic food ideas
Condiments – tomato sauce, relish, mustard, salt, pepper
Drinks
Ice bag or ice packs
Cups and plates
Utensils
Serving utensils
Cutting knife and cutting board
Napkins
Rubbish bags
Bottle opener
Paper towels or wet ones for cleaning up
Blanket

3. Learn Something New

If your mum enjoys learning or you know she has a hobby that she has wanted to pursue, why not prepay her a month or two of online learning. Here are some great websites, which will allow your mum to take courses at any time.

CakeMasters.com – From just $10 per month, your mum can learn how to decorate cakes, cupcakes, create special figurines and so much more. These excellent courses will take her step by step and teach her skills she will be able to use for life (and perhaps your next birthday)

Lynda.com – For $25 per month she can learn a variety of subjects including photography, animation, design, digital painting, video making and lots more.

Udemy.com – Course prices vary, but this website is great for learning how to sew, juggle, start a business, design jewellery, yoga and the list goes on.

4. An Adrenaline Session

Is your mum a bit of a daredevil? Then why not book her for an experience she will never forget. How about a sky-diving session or a jetboat ride? Or perhaps she would like to dive with sharks or do a skywalk. You will find plenty of great experiences at Red Balloon . Just make sure you don't forget the camera and video recorder.

5. Leisurely Cruise

Organise a special cruise for your mum. Perhaps a lunch, dinner or high tea cruise or how about a dolphin or whale watch cruise?

In Sydney, check out Captain Cook Cruises , Sea Sydney Cruises , Unique Sydney Cruises

6. High Tea

Encourage your mum to get dressed up and take her out for high tea. She will enjoy being spoilt and treated like a lady for a day. Some great places to enjoy High Tea in Sydney include:
The Victoria Room
Sir Stamford
The Langham Hotel
The Westin
Park Hyatt
Bayside Lounge
Sheraton on the Park

7. A Day Of Pampering.

If your mum is looking a little run down, why not book her for a day of pampering. There are plenty of great deals available for various treatments. You may be surprised how much you can get for very little money. Check out great deals on Living Social , Groupon , Spreets , Cudo . No doubt your mum will love a manicure, pedicure, facial, massage or cut & blowdry.

You don't need to spend a lot of money to make your mum feel special. If she knows you have taken the time to plan her day, that is all she needs to make her happy.
