Are you brave enough to step out in public in your undies? The People's Choice Credit Union are bringing you the 2013 Undies Run for Bowel Cancer , raising money and awareness for Australia's second biggest cancer killer.

The premise is pretty simple. So many people are too embarrassed to talk to their doctors about the symptoms of bowel cancer. Yes, it involves talking about things that happen in the toilet, and yes the idea of a colonoscopy might not be too much fun, but if bowel cancer can be detected early almost every case can be cured. So the Undies Run for bowel cancer is stripping down runners, and you might just find out that embarrassing things aren't as bad as they seem.

The Undies Run has a fairly simple run around Rymill Park . You can walk, run, or jog, so you won't need to commit to a long training regime just to get involved. The only real requirement is that you wear your undies on display. If you're a little bit nervous about baring all then don't worry, you can wear your undies over tights, shorts, or pants, as long as they're on display.

You can Dare a Friend through Facebook, and they'll get sent a message letting them know you've dared them to take part. Or if you can't make it along for the event buy a Chicken Pass to show your support. Of course if you know anyone who is participating in the run you can donate to them or their team.

The target for 2013 is to reach $100,000, but it would be great to get even more. By getting involved you can join a few famous faces like marathon runner Jessica Trengove, Jenni Screen and Laura Hodges from Adelaide Link Lightning and the Australian Opals, and Nova presenter Jarrod Walsh, who will all be donning their dacks for the day.

While the run is a bit of fun, it's the message behind it that's most important. People over the age of 50 are recommended to have a regular bowel cancer screening every two years, but everyone should talk to their doctor if they notice any symptoms. If you've got a family history of bowel cancer it's especially important that you discuss any changes or symptoms with your doctor.

To register head to the Undies Run website, and select your free undies from the choices. They can be picked up from the Flinders Street People's Choice Credit Union branch, or from the Adelaide City Council Tour Village in Victoria Square.

By taking part you'll also get access to an exclusive viewing area for the Tour Down Under People's Choice Classic, which will take place after the run.
