Supermarkets are so 90's. These days, savoir-faire consumers know that large scale markets provide much fresher produce at similar, if not lower, prices than the suburban shops. The only problem is finding a market that provides the same variety as a supermarket.
Well now, your problem has been solved. Every Wednesday night, the Brisbane Market Place (
Sherwood Road, Rocklea) hosts the
Twilight Fresh Markets, providing a huge range of foods in one supermarket-convenient location. From 3.30pm until 8.00pm, over one hundred market holders from Queensland and northern New South Wales tempt customers with fruit and vegetables, meats and poultry, fresh flowers and plants, baked goods, gourmet and deli lines and lifestyle products.
The marketplace is conveniently located, only 11 kilometres from the CBD and less than a kilometre from the
Rocklea train station. If you are driving, there is secure parking onsite for $3 (which includes market entry), or you can take your chances with the free parking along Sherwood Road (be sure to get there early.)
The markets also provide live entertainment and several cafe dining areas, offering international cuisines, for tired patrons to take a break and soak up the busy market atmosphere.
The Brisbane Market Place is fully paved and protected from dust and rain, while still offering the open air, shopping under the stars experience. Market entry is $1 for adults and free for children.
Say no to preservative ridden supermarket foods and check out the Twilight Fresh Markets, where you can purchase your food direct from the producer.
