From late January to late March, the splendid harbourside location of
Taronga Zoo will be the setting for a series of intimate evening concerts known as
Twilight at Taronga.
The
line-up includes
Katie Noonan,
James Morrison, the
Choir of Hope & Inspiration and the
Australian Chamber Orchestra. And there will also be five tribute shows:
Björn Again (ABBA);
100% Kylie (Kylie Minogue);
Neil Diamond: His Music, His Life; the
Woodstock 40th Anniversary Special; and Tour de Force, starring the Elton John impersonator,
Elton Jack, and the Billy Joel wannabe,
Big Shot.
The performances will be taking place on the lawn, so picnic blankets are recommended. It is also possible to bring chairs, although that will force you to the back. Given that the seating area will be uncovered, patrons are advised to be prepared for rain. And while you are welcome to bring a hamper, a variety of hot and cold food, espresso coffees, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, confectionary and ice creams will be on sale.
Tickets are reasonably priced at $66.50 for adults, $59.50 for groups of at least 12, and $54.50 for concession. Should you be looking for something a little more fancy, dinner and concert are available for $165. As for the romantics, they can book a concert and accommodation package for $335 per couple. It's best to get in early, because with the nine acts only doing a total of 18 performances, the law of supply and demand may not be in your favour.
