Easter Sunday saw us heading to one of Ashgrove's little gems - the . This cafe changed hands roughly three years ago and is now owned by a dynamic duo, Mario and Gemmi. Whilst the upbeat Gemmi runs front of house and greets everyone with a warm welcome, Mario is the cafe's chef and slaves away in the background creating mouth-watering fare. Gemmi tells me that any dishes including pasta or meat are Mario's specialities.

We were looking for something scrumptious for breakfast and unbelievably all four of us chose the same meal - Canadian pancakes with banana, bacon and maple syrup. The coconut French toast was tempting but will have to wait until next time. Fresh orange juices and tropical sunrises (a combination of orange juice, pineapple juice, lychees and grenadine) were ordered and sipped before our breakfasts arrived. Service was very prompt with our meals arriving in good time. Those pancakes were truly delicious but whilst the menfolk devoured every last mouthful, we girls didn't quite get through our platefuls. The servings at Tutto are very generous and good value for your money. We finished off our meal with coffee and headed for home with very contented stomachs.

The menu here is varied and has something for everyone. There is a daily specials board to peruse as well as the full menu. All the meals that we saw delivered to other tables looked and smelt wonderful.

Seating is either inside the cafe or in a small elevated dining area outside, under umbrellas. Business was very brisk when we visited and for that matter seems good whenever I drive past. There's no doubt this is a very popular "local", well supported by Ashgrovians. You definitely need to call and make a reservation, particularly on weekends. Some street parking is available but with three big supermarkets in the immediate area there's plenty of parking nearby. Children are also made to feel welcome here.

Being licensed means that Gemmi and Mario have got the dining scene pretty well covered (BYO wine is accepted). Takeaway is available and the cafe is open seven days a week for breakfast and lunch from 7.30 am - 3pm (kitchen closes at 2.30pm). It is also open on Thursday and Friday nights for dinner from 6pm. It's worth noting too that you can book the cafe for special occasions or functions.

I asked Gemmie how she would describe their decor and she replied, "We figured we'd get the food right first and then worry about the decor". Well they certainly have got the food right and the decor is pleasant and as Gemmi laughingly quipped - it's "bitsy"".

Before Gemmi and Mario's time here Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban enjoyed the dining experience at Tutto Cafe. Why don't you do likewise and treat yourself to a visit soon?
