Trunk Town

Trunk Bar and Restaurant and the adjacent Trunk Diner, collectively known as 'Trunk' or 'Trunk Town', have enlivened a formally dreary pocket of Melbourne's downtown Central Business District. While both appendages have chic and fresh interiors, the real draw card is a position in the spacious shared courtyard beneath the namesake 150 year old coral tree.

Trunk Diner has impressive breakfast and lunch menus, which encompass all things Americana – waffles, eggs, quesadillas, salads, soups and desserts, such as brownies, pies and caramel popcorn. The focus on quality ingredients truly sets Trunk Diner apart and is epitomised in their signature dish – the Wagyu Beef Burger. This gourmet burger is made with high quality beef, a grilled brioche bun, fresh cos lettuce, thick cut tomato and home-made pickles, with tantalising extras such a Gruyère cheese and jalapenos also on offer.

Trunk Bar and Restaurant is akin to the grown-up sibling of Trunk Diner, sharing a lunchtime shift, but taking over exclusively at dinnertime. The menu boasts a fine selection of modern Italian cuisine, including sizable wood fired pizzas. The extensive drinks menu has a diverse array of local and imported wines, beers and ciders, in addition to an impressive cocktail list.

Whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner – Trunk Town has placed itself firmly on Melbourne's culinary map.

An excellent review! Trunk is certainly a venue worth visiting, whether you're after a quick snack or something more substantial. Anyone trying to beat their burgers for quality definitely has a challenge on their hands!
