And they're off! If you don't mind a bit of a flutter, make sure you have the City of Casey Tricodes Day marked on your calendar. With a massive 23 races run throughout the event it's Australia's biggest race day and is an exciting and action-packed occasion.

It's an annual event which combines the glory of thoroughbred racing, the fun of harness racing and wild energy of greyhound racing. It is also the only event in Australia where you can enjoy three codes of racing all on the one day, hence the name Tricodes.

This year, Tricodes will be held on Sunday 28th March. Collingwood premiership player turned radio personality Mick McGuane is back again this year hosting the Tricodes Day Punters Club from the Trackside Sports Bar. There are eight thoroughbred races, seven harness races and eight greyhound races being run in total – a race every fifteen minutes! That's hardly enough time to drink a celebratory glass of champas!

If you feel like splurging, grab a ticket to the Tricodes Legends Lunch by calling 5996 1300. At $100 a head it includes a two course buffet lunch, beer, wine and soft drink, course admission and racebook. The dining room is in a prime location with access to the grandstand, and has full glass frontage so that you won't miss a minute of the action.

Tricodes isn't just an outing for the adults, it's a family friendly day and the kids will be entertained by the free rides and activities on offer as well as the sight of horses and greyhounds racing around the track.

Whether you're a professional punter who studies the form guide in advance, or you place your bets based on the colour of a jockey's silks or the way the animal looks at you, you're truly in for a memorable day. Who knows, it could be the day you finally hit the jackpot and nail the quadrella, or (more likely) you may come home with an empty wallet and echoes of "if only"; but the suspense of the unknown is half the fun!
