If you are up for it, then make the
Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre your destination from 7am on the final Sunday in the first month of the new year. There is even a children's triathlon event as well. This event caters to all different fitness levels however it is all good. Yet if you are up for a challenge, and for the ladies in particular, if you don't mind wearing pink, then go for it.
The children's triathlon event begins with a 50 metre swim, followed by a 1.5 km bike ride (c'mon Melbourne we should definitely be fine in this area anyway) and then completed by a 500m run. The fastest "pinkie" has completed this course in 6 minutes, while the slowest pinkie took 22 minutes.
For the adults there is a choice from the short to the long triathlons. Be prepared for anything from a 100 metre to a 300 metre swim, a 3km to a 9km bike ride and then anything from a 1km to a 3km run to finish off the event and your respective course.
Fitness First are promoting themselves as the trainers for this event. Nice one.
If you are wondering what you should be wearing at this event then find out more by clicking
here. And for your efforts, you will be rewarded with frequent drink stops in tandem with a pretty pink finishers medal and a goodies bag as the sponsors way of saying thank you for supporting the
National Breast Cancer Foundation, hence the pink theme.
