A hearty breakfast meal
This restaurant cafe' sits close enough to Brunswick's busy Sydney Road to be considered a vibrant part of the action but has an advantage in that it's set well back from the main street, away from the bustle and the noise. The tables are clustered together at the end of a pleasant piazza and people arrive early for breakfasts to enjoy fruit loaf, croissants or specials like '
omelette with bacon, mushroom spinach' ($14.90).
A lovely latte
What's really distinct on the Tre Espresso menu however, are the servings of baked eggs which come, still sizzling in ceramic bowls with slices of soft ciabatta bread on the side. There's one for meat-eaters that has proscuitto or a vegetarian option with baked beans.
The breakfast items are available until 3:00pm along with the focaccia, panini, lasagna, soups and salads items listed for lunch.
Tre Espresso is a pizza restaurant as well and has all the standards available alongside their unique '
Pizza Polpette with fresh tomato, basil, cheese and meatballs' ($16.50) and '
Salsicce Pizza with mozzerella, rocket, fresh chilli, pork and fennel sausage' ($17.50)
Fully licensed, you can wash your meal down with Becks, Boags, James Squire, or Heineken beer. There are some interesting, imported wines to experiment with too, a Sicilian Shiraz or
Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
Gourmet Pizzas, Bar, Cafe
Tre Espresso loves a good tune. The restaurant walls are decorated with old vinyl albums and record cover and during Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes, there is
live jazz on offer. Upbeat rhythms keep the wait staff on their toes and even when there are only a few people to serve, they still do so efficiently. It's full table service and water is brought out immediately as you sit down.
Tre Espresso can be found in Sparta Lane, just opposite La Meditteranea Continental Supermarket on Sydney Road.
