After working all week, we thought we'd treat ourselves to breakfast at a restaurant that we'd heard about on Brisbane's South Bank - namely, The Torba Restaurant and Lounge.

This restaurant specialises in Eastern European food. As I had spent many years in Eastern Europe and my wife is Polish, we were looking forward from some tastes from 'home'. We were certainly not disappointed! The menu is festooned with dishes from across the region. Prices are reasonable and if the quality of the food that we ordered is anything to go by, then you won't be disappointed by any of the other dishes on the menu. I chose the 'Hungarian Inspiration' - a simple dish of toasted sourdough bread, poached eggs, spicy sausage with a garnish of lightly cooked cherry tomatoes. A classic take on the 'Full Australian/English' breakfast. I highly recommend that you try it! My wife went for the Blini cooked with ricotta cheese. She thought a wonderful reminder of her home country.

Reservation is advisable as this restaurant is very busy. It is situated on South Bank's Little Stanley street, directly opposite the entrance to the underground car park and so it is easy to find and of course therefore parking is a 'doddle'. Seating is provided both outside and inside of the restaurant.

Of course, a leisurely walk of the Souhbank is a must to either generate an appetite or to walk of your meal.
