[SECTION]Why Manly?[/SECTION]

Manly is just a great go to destination for locals and visitors to Sydney alike. Many of the locals living in Sydney (who do not live in Manly) go to Manly, and usually comment (especially on a hot day) that it feels like they are living in a resort, and is definitely a go to destination for interstate and overseas tourists. There is plenty to do in Manly, and use this article to help you plan the many great things to do in this great northern beaches suburb. It does not matter how much money you have, a great time is to be enjoyed by all. These activities are not presented in any particular order either.

[SECTION]Catch the Ferry There[/SECTION]

You can either catch the conventional green and yellow Manly Ferry that departs from Circular Quay wharf 3, or the Manly Fast Ferry. The conventional ferry makes way for a great cruise, and it only takes half an hour to get to Manly with great vantage points of Sydney harbour along the way.

[SECTION]Go to Oceanworld[/SECTION]

Exactly like Sydney Aquarium, the Manly Oceanworld makes the way for a great sea escape experience. Walk through another Manly beach, just as you leave the ferry wharf and you are there. Enjoy the adrenalin filled experience as a shark glides over your head.

[SECTION]Hire a Bike[/SECTION]

Just a moment's walk away from the ferry wharf on the left hand side as you are heading towards the Corso and Manly Beach; you will be able to hire a quality blue bike for as long as you need. Or why not go on the Manly Bike Tour instead? Explore Manly by an experienced local that takes you to the key vantage points in Manly, finishing up at Shelly Beach where a complimentary ice cream is included as part of this experience. The hills are quite challenging, otherwise the bike tour is fantastic. A fantastic way to explore and learn more about Manly.

[SECTION]Explore The Corso[/SECTION]

A variety of different shops along The Corso are at your fingertips, and there is a great kids' play area right near Hungry Jacks as you are heading towards the beach. Sometimes free meditation classes are held in this busy area.

[SECTION]Go to Manly Beach[/SECTION]

It is a given. When you go to Manly, ensure you spend some time at Manly Beach.

[SECTION]Have an Ice cream[/SECTION]

Your visit to Manly is not complete without an ice cream, even on a not so great day weather wise. The Ben and Jerry's ice cream store is always popular, and many of the other ice creameries along the Corso are fantastic. The waffles are freshly made, and I love it how they are dipped in chocolate.

[SECTION]Walk to Shelly Beach[/SECTION]

Just follow the path as you are heading towards the Manly Surf Life Saving Club, turn left and keep walking until you come across another small beach called Shelly Beach. Enjoy a more laid back beach experience, and if you are up for it: this beach is a great place to go scuba diving in.

[SECTION]Go Bushwalking[/SECTION]

Head up the stairs from Shelly Beach (near the open park area) and you will find yourself at Cabbage Tree Bay. Follow the trail, and this trail does pave the way for a great bushwalking experience. The trail is small so don't fret. When you get to the blue seated area, enjoy a great lookout into the ocean and catch glimpses of Manly beach. Just be super careful of the rocks in wet weather, they are indeed quite slippery. Once you have had enough, head back towards Manly Beach and pass through The Corso to catch the ferry back to the quay.

[SECTION]At Manly Wharf Once You have some Time to Kill...[/SECTION]

The conventional green and yellow ferry always departs Circular Quay to head towards Manly right on the hour or half hour; so for instance if you miss the 9am ferry, the next ferry leaves at 9:30am. At Manly wharf, the ferries depart every quarter of the hour; so if you head back to Manly ferry wharf at 2:15pm, you have just missed your ferry back to Circular Quay as the next one is due out at 2:45pm....so why not browse through a few of the shops at the wharf to kill 15 minutes in such a circumstance before heading to the wharf ready to board your ferry back to the quay? Or you can get a quick massage or a bite to eat if you prefer.

Enjoy your next trip out to Manly, and with a little bit of planning you will get more out of your day. Manly is also home to surfing and swimming contests as well as the annual Manly Jazz Festival with markets near the library every weekend; also worth going to.
