Buying a gift is easy. But it's spending time that creates memories. So what can you treat your mum to this mother's day? Check out these top 5 different, child friendly options if you will have children with you, too.

Visit a Vineyard
Visit a Vineyard

O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyards have a Mother's Day Champagne Breakfast ($25pp) or 3 course lunch ($70pp) with wine. You can also buy a Gurmet picnic basket ($85p basket for 2). There will be live entertainment at the vineyards in the afternoon. It's a good venue if you have young kids as there is plenty of space to run around. The venue is very relaxing. To book phone 07 5543 4011. They are at the bottom of the mountain. For info on O'Reilly's, click here.

Mummy Exhibition

Visit an exhibition. The Queensland Museum is currently hosting "Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb", sorry for the pun. It includes a film presentation as well as the display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, so you'll need to book. More info here.

Adventure Option
Currumbin High Ropes

Looking for something more adventurous for this Mother's Day? How about taking on the Green Challenge at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. It's a high ropes adventure course suspended in the trees and is lots of fun. If you have teenage kids with you when you take mum out then this is a winner. If it's memories you're after, this bonding experience will fit the bill.

Out of this World
Brisbane Planetarium

Another place to visit is the Brisbane Planetarium at the Brisbane Botanic Gardens, Mt Coot-tha. The gardens are beautiful and the Planetarium is different. The round lecture theatre, The Cosmic Skydome, with its round lecture theatre, and film viewings shown on the ceiling is great.

Picnic on Springbrook Mountain
Warringa Pool

If none of the above quite work for you and your mum, then take a drive up Springbrook Mountain and enjoy a walk through the rainforest. Pack a picnic and stop one of the many picnic sites. There are marked trails, look out points, waterfalls and don't miss the fudge shop.

Do something fun. Spend some time with your mum this Mother's Day. Make this year a special one.

Emerald Lakes Golf Club - excellent food. We booked a table for 23. Everyone enjoyed their meal. The food prices were as normal but notice the alcohol price had increased. Great day though and very affordable.
