An acquaintance of my husband's recently brought his family from Canada to Australia for a business and family trip. They booked to go to Sydney, Cairns and Perth. When my husband asked why they didn't come to Brisbane it was because they didn't know anything about it here.

Brisbane has a uniqueness that the world needs to be aware of that puts us into the global view.

This city has a thriving liveliness and energy about it. Our river winds its way through the city and has with it numerous sites and places to go. It has scores of restaurants and entertainment as well as theatre and art geared for everyone.

An impressive array of festivals and musical entertainment also goes on in the valley and various other venues around the city.

South Bank has the swimming area, the markets, shops, museums and walk ways, not to mention countless places to eat and rest up. Then there is the city with the Botanical Gardens, all the historical buildings, churches and waterfont to explore.

The Mount Coot-tha lookout, the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, Roma Street Parkland with its close proximity to the city are just a few of our attractions. The Queen Street Mall itself has a real buzz to it complete with all the buskers, the balloon man and the shows that periodically go on there. Not to mention the shopping. Go to Visit Brisbane to check out more.

How about the things outside of our lovely city?

The Sunshine Coast has the Australia Zoo made so popular by Steve and Terry Irwin. The Alma Park Zoo with its collection of interesting and different wildlife, the Glass House Mountains, the shops and stunning views of the hinterlands. Then there are the beaches that line the coast, Aussie World and Underwater World at Mooloolaba.

Fraser Island, Moreton Island, Bribie Island and Stradbroke Island all shout out to be explored. Camping and 4WD tours are all part of the tourist industry within our bustling city.

There there is the Gold Coast. Mt. Tamborine, Movie World, Wet and Wild, Dream World, Sea World - how close to heaven is this for kids and teens? O'Reileys Rainforest Retreat and Binna Burra have miles and miles of hiking trails. Then there are all the beaches and Surfers Paradise as well.

Brisbane is an amazing place to bring the family or the love of your life. Brisbane is a class act waiting to shine on the world stage.
