Let's have fun with our little ones! Anyone who has, or has had children, will know that they don't stop moving and making noise. Fortunately Toddler Craft Music classes run every Friday morning in Prospect and offer supportive, creative and fun sessions to express that enthusiasm and develop skills that will stay with them for life.

Toddler Craft classes introduce children to a range of instruments, musical concepts, rhythm and movement. Every child has an opportunity to play a range of instruments in class, playing along with music and individually experimenting with different sounds including fun introductions to concepts like a scale, tone and tempo. There are nursery rhymes to sing along with, musical hist to shake, tap and dance along to and crowd favourites always on rotation.

Established in 2012 by mumpreneur Rebecca, the idea came about as a result of not having much success seeking a suitable music class for her two young boys.
"I took him (Rebecca's eldest son, Toby) to some baby music sessions and a couple of different dance classes but wasn't able to find what I was after. I wanted him to be able to experiment with instruments and start to have an appreciation and understanding of music and sounds. I found that most of the 'music' classes that are offered to babies/toddlers have little to do with learning about music and instruments and often the teacher had no musical background or instrument knowledge".

With over 20 years' experience as a musician, dancer and theatre performer, the foundation Rebecca brings to Toddler Craft is a phenomenal understanding of music and dance theory and an ability to lead classes playing guitar, autoharp, flute, singing, and more. As a parent of two energetic young boys of her own, the introduction of these concepts is well tested, demonstrated and adapted for all ages by learning through play.

A mixture of activities lets parents and children all participate, with the program changing regularly to incorporate different songs and exercises. Rebecca attributes much of the program's success to detailed planning and sourcing music, resources and props to aid in different children's learning and development. Each week's program is hand crafted with themes and concepts that run throughout a term.

Toddler Craft classes are available every Monday and Friday morning in the school term: One class on Monday morning's at 9:30am in Craigmore. Friday's offer two 45 minutes classes starting at 9:15am and 10:20am in 'The Cottage', situated behind the Prospect Library (Cnr Main North Road and Thomas Street, Nailsworth).

Toddler Craft offers a first come'n'try lesson free but bookings are essential as spaces are limited. Private sessions are also available to be booked for playgroups, schools, etc. and can be tailored to your needs.
