Tibits differs from your standard London eating emporium in one very important way: you pay for your meal by weight. So you can have as much of what you fancy as you fancy and none of what you don't. Of course there are other buffets, but the norm is still to serve you by the plate, this way you can have a snack or a full on feast and still pay a fair price.
The all vegetarian food is laid out in traditional buffet style, with hot food, like falafel, noodles, pasta bakes, baked vegetables, samosas and potato wedges (for example) under heat lamps on top of the buffet boat, and salads, in a rather impressive range of colours laid out underneath. It's very frequently replenished, and the variety changes daily, so if you like something go back for a second helping.
The desert/ breakfast section is a particular personal favourite – bircher muesli and yoghurt and rhubarb and berry compote is good, but red berry tart or cheesecake are better. There are pastry options too, and a selection of cakes that aren't part of the buffet boat, but they don't do a hot breakfast – which could be an oversight.
Be warned: it's not cheap. Paying by weight is an honest way to eat and the food is tasty, and they promise that it's good for you, but you do pay for the privilege.
Tibits also does a limited selection of wines, at decent prices, beers and coffees etc. The décor is trying a little bit too hard and will have more charm with a bit of wear, but on a summers evening you can sit outside on long tables in the square and people watch over a well priced drink, which sort of makes up for the little bit extra they seem to charge for their food.
They also do take away.
