Summer lawn bowls is really for everyone and at $10 dollars its an affordable afternoon. With local bowling clubs scattered all over Melbourne, it is a really wonderful excuse to learn something new or brush up on your skills. It's also a great place to have a small event like a birthday party or engagement party; guests can bring a plate or something to BBQ and you don't have to go far for the party games and entertainment.
My new favourite club is
The Thornbury Bowls Club. It is not overcrowded, the decor is insanely 50s and they have enough teapots to quench a bowling horde.
You need to book with them if you want to reserve a couple of spots, especially if you are having a little get together, or just head down there and give it a go with your sweetheart because nothing says romance like barefeet and a friendly game of bowls.
