How Sydney Cheers me up on a Bad Day

I honestly think Sydney for me is like the ultimate crush, the boy who can bring a smile to my face without even doing anything. I'm having a love affair with Sydney. I can go on forever about why and how much I love this place, but that's the thing, I don't think my words can do it justice. I'll just say that its got what the French term as 'je ne sais quoi' - an undefinable quality.

Random Acts of Kindness
So I was walking back from university recently and I saw an old lady begging right outside McDonald. She was sitting on the street with a board that said 'food only please'. Most people would say how can this cheer you up about Sydney, this is the most depressing thing ever - someone begging just for a meal - but something extremely nice happened after that. A man who looked like he could have easily worked on Wall Street, wearing a super fancy suit, kneeled down right in front of me to have a long chat with the lady about her life and took her for a meal to a restaurant on George Street while I watched in awe. I see so much kindness in people here, maybe small acts, but I think they go a long way.

Chai Fetish

I lived in 'Rainy Wales' for a few years prior to moving here. As the titled implies, it rained a whole lot and on a rainy day what does one crave more than anything else, a nice cuppa tea, but the British or Welsh mostly believe in simple tea bag tea which really doesn't work for me. However since coming to Australia I've discovered the Chai Latte and it's the best thing since Madonna. I think it's heads and shoulders above any other tea I have tried yet and it's one of my must have morning items.

Best Chair Latte in Town : Baddors Manors on Glebe Road, whatta beauty!

The View

Everytime I look out my window and I see heaps of people walking around back and forward, the city comes alive for me. There is always noise and movement, I love that. Big buildings, wide streets and all sorts of personalities. In that moment the world feels so big and my problems seem so small.

The fashion

Okay when it comes to fashion, I'm a bit annoyed with Sydney since I truly believe this major city lacks good clothing outlets and has very limited variety - either everything is extremely pricey or less than 10$, I ask you where is the middle ground? But what I do love about the fashion sense here is regardless of how limited the choices for shopping are, people still try and find their unique sense of style. I have never seen a group of people dressed similarly waiting on a traffic light. Everyone is different and everyone is allowed to be different.

Long Sunny Walks

I'm not a fan of walking, I like my buses and other forms of public transport but Sydney brings out the walker in me. I just find the walk around CBD early morning to be the best relaxer ever. The weather is phenomenal, the roads are empty and it's just you alone with nature in a busy city, what could be better.

These are my top five reasons to love Sydney but it constantly surprises me and never stops giving. All I know is regardless of where I travel too, a huge chunk of me will always belong here.
