Shepparton is about 180 kilometres north-east of Melbourne on the Goulburn River. The town is well known for farming and fruit-picking, but deserves more attention as a family holiday destination. Parks and activities for the kids, pleasant cafes and shops along Maude Street, and a vibrant arts scene, make Shepparton well worth a visit.

Friar Cafe at 127 Friars Street Shepparton. It is set in an old church, with most meals at around $15.
