Batemans Bay is located on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, approximately under four hours drive from Sydney CBD. And it is certainly worth escaping the city to this picturesque beach town and its surrounds.

White sands, calm turquoise waters, majestic seascapes, walking and cycling trails and surrounding National Parks are some of the gems you will find at Batemans Bay.

1. The Old Courthouse Museum

2. Square Head Track 2
This charming walk leads you through towering trees, including the fragrant spotted gum trees, wildlife can be spotted here as well as birdwatching. The short hike to the scenic Square Head offers spectacular views out to sea. Click here for website.

3. Batemans Bay Cycleway **
Cycling is one of the best ways to explore the wonders of Batemans Bay and the cycleway offers a scenic, family-friendly experience with mainly flat paths. It is best to start at Batehaven at Corrigans Beach and when you return, take a dip in the calm beach waters or enjoy a picnic lunch. There are a few other cycle ways to enjoy too -see website .



4. Opal & Shell Museum
For 30 years the museum has been collecting shells from around the world including shells from the sea, rivers, on land and even fossils. You will find displays of rare opal collections, specimens and fossils. 5. Holmes Lookout
This lookout offers breathtaking scenic views looking over the mighty Clyde River as it winds its way towards the Pacific Ocean. You can see glimpses of the Budwang Ranges to the northwest. Click here for website.



6. Catalina Country Club
Whether you play golf or not a visit to this club is worth it as it offers a 27 hole Championship Golf Course, bars, coffee shop, and delicious food at the clubhouse. The club is also fully licensed and offers TAB, Keno and Austar so you can enjoy the "Match of the day" on their big screens. There is also free live entertainment at the family-friendly lounge. 7. Cullendulla Creek Nature Reserve**
This hidden gem offers an abundance of wildlife from sugar gliders slipping through trees, echidnas foraging in the undergrowth, oystercatchers and soldier crabs stalking the sands to black swans frolicking in the bay. The rich wildlife is not the only attraction here, you can enjoy walks including the Cullendulla Beach Track which is an easy family-friendly boardwalk. 8. Murramarang National Park
This National Park spans across 44km of dramatic coastline offering ultimate natural experiences including exploring the cliffs, headlands and pristine beaches, water activities including fishing, snorkelling, swimming and beach walks, rainforest walks, bushwalks, camping and much more activities to be enjoyed. 9. Surf Beach **
Located just 10 minutes drive from Batemans Bay CBD this beach is popular with locals and visitors alike. You will find plenty of grassy areas overlooking the beach. The beach is patrolled in peak season and offers Local Surf Club, change rooms and shower facilities. It is located off Princes Hwy, Beach Rd, Batemans Bay



10. Observation Head Lookout / Observation Point

12. Birdland Animal Park
This is a hands-on experience animal park which features forest paths winding through 8 acres of sweeping waterfront trees and landscaped gardens. Native Australian animals exhibits including birds and reptiles (over 100 species) can be found here. You can also hand feed and pat the animals, enjoy shows and talks and much more. 13. Clyde River National Park
This secluded water sport playground is begging to be explored. With 9km of river frontage, steep forested hills, tree-lined foreshores with mangroves, wildlife spotting, birdwatching and lookouts to enjoy. Pack a picnic and enjoy the perfect day out. Click here for website.



14. Eurobodalla Botanic Gardens
Situated on 42 hectares of forest these botanic gardens are certainly worth a visit. The garden is located around 5km from Batemans Bay and offers a display of plants that occur naturally across the region. There are display gardens, walking tracks, picnic and barbecue areas, children's playground, café, visitors centre. 15. The Corn Trail
This route used to be used by the pack horse teams of early settlers in the 1830s as they traded produce, mainly corn. The trail crosses high mountain ridges and deep rainforest valleys. Do note that the walking track is very steep at some parts and most people follow the trail downhill. It is 15km one way, moderate to difficult and around 5-6 hours downhill. 16. Batemans Marine Park
From Murramarang Beach to Wallaga Lake you will find 85,000 hectares of estuaries, creeks, rivers and lakes, making it perfect for fishing with little restriction. You will find a very diverse range of marine life and habitats, including dolphins, seals, sharks and rays. 17. Banksia Walk
This lovely walk takes you through a mature banksia forest that offers amazing views of the coast and hinterland. During migration season whales can be spotted on this walk. You will also find a variety of nectar eating birds- so keep an eye out. Do note that the cliff edges are not fenced making the walk unsuitable for toddlers and small children. 18. Mogo Zoo
Situated 10km drive south of Batemans Bay, Mogo Zoo is home to one of the most successful private zoos in Australia. You will find an extraordinary collection of rare, exotic and endangered animals with over 250 animals- 44 are rare or exotic.
