This spooky play revolves around the main character Kipps, a solicitor who has to visit a mysterious house in the marshes to tie up a dead woman's affairs. None of the people in the nearby village go up there as they are frightened and superstitious. One night Kipps remains in the house of the deceased woman. He is cut off from the village by the marshes and is forced to spend the whole night there. This is when he discovers a haunting secret.



Redfox3 Theatre Company presents ''. Stephen Mallatratt's ingenious stage adaptation of Susan Hill's acclaimed chilling novella of the same name published in 1983. The performances in Warburton on 20 and 21 August and Healesville on 27 August and 4 September are directed by multi award winning director Justin Stephens. You may have seen the movie with Daniel Radcliffe (it's currently screening on Netflix). Released in 2011 it's the biggest selling UK horror movie of the last 20 years. This successful and terrifying stage play has been running for 27 years in London's Westend. Audiences from all over the world keep returning to London to see the play which has also been produced in over 40 countries. If you've seen the movie you must go see the play as the adaptation of the story for the stage givens it a fresh light.

It combines some of the oldest theatrical techniques with modern cinematic stylings, this incredible production relies on atmosphere, hints, glimpses and suggestions, heard and sometimes half seen. chills the audience as it builds to its terrifying climax.

To familiarise myself with the story and to write this article, I made the mistake of watching the movie before going to bed. That's why I have booked in to see the matinee.
