There are so many places in Sydney that just don't get the exposure they deserve.
The Terrace on Kent is one of those places.
I jumped on the deals-online bandwagon a while ago and just last week
deals.com was offering an all you can eat ribs deal at The Terrace. The boyfriend is a rib fiend so it was a no brainer that we should go. We were surprised at how fancy the restaurant was. When you hear the phrase 'all you can eat,' you can't help but imagine paper bibs and truckers, but hidden within the Stamford Plaza, The Terrace is beautifully decorated and even has water views off the balcony. The light is low and the toilets marble. Not at all what you'd expect. The staff are friendly and eager to help but there are few of them, so expect to wait for that second drink.
We started with some bread and an olive oil/balsamic vinegar dip. The bread was fresh, delicious and not your typical tip top variety - and that was just the beginning. I always try not to fill up on the bread or drinks before the meal arrives but that was just not a possibility. I willed my second stomach into action when the ribs and beer battered chips arrived. I love beer battered anything and these chips were no exception - the only qualm is that it didn't come with sauce - luckily the ribs were dripping with a delicious sauce so there was enough for the chips. The ribs were amazing, but because the place was so nice I felt out of place eating with my hands, but everybody knows that to really enjoy ribs, you've got to get in their down and dirty, so I did. The meat was tender and flavoursome and the chips crunchy – the perfect combo.
The all you can eat deal was especially created for deals.com but a rack of ribs and chips would normally cost $18 on the
menu and at that price you can eat all that you want. They even let you take what you don't eat home. You've got to love a good doggy bag.
