The Tea Pot Cafe
The Tea Pot Cafe in Eltham is tucked into the side of the mud-brick
Eltham Library. The two establishments share the same wooden deck, on which the Tea Pot places its outdoor chairs and tables. This seating area overlooks the Alistair Knox Reserve; a quiet park with a mild, green, embankment leading all the way down to the nearby Diamond Creek.
It's a tranquil location and a recommended place to visit on a Saturday, when you've finally found the time to read the next chapter of the book you've been enjoying or want to a bit of space to be able to flick through the thick editions of the weekend newspapers over breakfast.
The Tea Pot's menu consists of unpretentious, basic fare. In the morning there are offerings of toast, eggs and heated croissants. At lunchtime there's foccacias, bakery snacks and hot pies with your choice of chips or salad. Additionally, the café has two to three daily specials written up on its boards. Meals range in prices from around five to twenty dollars.
As an alternative to sitting down for full service, many customers have a take-away coffees prepared before they beginning their walks along the Diamond Creek Trail. To further assist with this type of snacking on-the-go, the Tea Pot sells pre-packaged bags of biscuits, nuts, lollies, cold drinks and ice-creams as well.
Coffee and a muffin
A well-liked favourite is their coffee and muffin combination. With a choice of flavours between pear, chocolate, or raspberry muffin it turns out to be an inexpensive treat. Also, at the Tea Pot, a mug of latte is delivered in an actual mug; the type you can wrap your hands around and enjoy its hugging warmth while you drink. There's a selection of teas are available and a great variety of milkshake flavours too.
The café' employs a sufficient number of staff so that even during their busiest times you don't have to wait long for service. They will leave you alone if you're reading, working or in the middle of a conversation but are usually happy to stop and chat to you appear to be inviting company.
The Tea Pot Café is dog friendly and many visitors tie up their canines beneath the tables while they sit. Staff will provide water for thirsty pooches. For young children there are some colouring books and crayons to play with.
The Tea Pot Cafe' is a nice place to stop and recharge on a morning while visiting the monthly Eltham Craft Market, or while taking the kids out to adventure on the Alistair Knox Reserve playground equipment. It can also be a good meal option for people visiting the library to exchange borrowed books, view the art exhibitions or for an author event.

The Tea Pot Café' is open from 8am - 4pm each day except Wednesdays, can be booked for catering or functions and is never so crowded that you will be hurried away from your table after eating.
