Holey molars, Batman! Brisbane is heading for the biggest sugar coma ever when all the best elements of a laneway festival and a dessert bar are deliciously combined for one day only - Saturday 29 October.
The Sugar Market will be Brisbane's first ever festival dedicated to all things sweet, gooey, chocolatey, sugary, fudgey... I think you get the drift.
Aiden Street Laneway, just behind The Wickham in Fortitude Valley, is the venue for this festival that will be choc-full of everything delectable and drool-worthy. Some of Brisbane's finest purveyors of sweet treats will be on hand to tempt you from 11am to 5pm, so get your friends together for a day of sampling goods from the most important food groups; chocolate, caramel, candy, cake and ice cream.
Fancy some lollies from the
Swedish Candy Bar , cupcakes from
EJ's Delights , or the goodness of
Old Style Fudge and Coconut Ice ? How about salted caramel chocolate balls from
Chokola'j or a sizzling brownie from
Southside Bistro ? Enough already, I'm in! And vegans and vegetarians will not be left out at this inclusive festival. They'll be catered for by a number of providers including
Nutri Hitt .
And, as if that's not enough sweet treats, you also have the opportunity to win $50 worth of Sugar Market cash to spend on anything your heart desires from the myriad of festival dessert stalls. Just
enter your details here and you could be one of three lucky winners.
Just so you don't have to walk too far after the festival Secure Parking have a special parking offer for festival attendees. You can park all day for only $5 at the Valley Metro when you book through
Secure-a-Spot using the code SUGARMKT. There's also a special sweet deal from Uber with a free ride valued at up to $20 for first time users, using the codeword SUGARMARKET.
"
And what's the price of all this deliciousness?", I hear you ask. For a gold coin entry you will have access to a cornucopia of desserts to die for. Individual dessert items will sell for between $3 and $20. There will also be pop-up bars, live tunes and entertainment. You've got to admit it, this will be a great way to spend a spring afternoon in Brisbane.
