I love The Social. I do. That's why I'm telling you about it. I love the fact that it gets quite hot and sweaty at a weekend - just like a proper club should. I like the fact that all of the furniture is made out of concrete, so therefore it's basically unbreakable, meaning you don't have to feel precious about bumping into things. I most of all love the fact that they are very open-minded and forward thinking in their music policy, so you can always find a night suited to you - or experiment with something you've never heard before.

I know your taste buds are moistened - so let's start from the beginning.

As with all good music venues, there is a little trick to finding this place. The Social is very, very Central London (it is but a blown carrier bag away from Oxford Circus), yet still many people don't know where it is. Located on a side street from Great Portland Street, a quite incongruous grey sign of a rather badly drawn bird is all that gives the game away.

On approach you'll meet some of the friendliest bouncers I've met in London, then you're inside. Stay on the same level and you'll find a leather and wood-filled upstairs bar, with plenty of booze to keep you entertained, and really comfortable bar stool/chairs which you will find ever so hard to get up from.

But get up from them you must, as it's time to go into the basement where the party is happening. This is where things get hot. With events on nearly every night there is barely time to wipe the sweat from the ceiling before it all kicks off again the next night. Some of the world's finest musicians and dj's have played here, and countless more have forged careers for themselves through playing here, so you know your ears are in good hands.

Here's what to do - check out the calendar - decide on a night you want to go to. (My tip? The Hip Hop Karaoke night is fun). Next, grab together a group of up-for-it friends, then go join the queue - let The Social work its magic on you too.
