Silver Lake, Los Angeles is a trendy neighbourhood, with good coffee, good food and good shopping. is perfect in living up to its namesake, and fitting in on Chapel Street, Prahran.

Owned and managed by brothers Nicholas and Thomas, who also run White Oaks Saloon around the corner, Silverlake Social is an American ale and beer house, with excellent 'merican food as well.



Designed in casual, understated barroom themes, with a central pool table, seating at the rounded, warm wooden bar, and tables along the side wall, Silverlake Social is a welcome addition to Chapel Street's nightclubs, rowdy pubs and food-focussed venues.



There are ten beers on tap, mainly American, including a rotating special, as well as twenty-plus bottled craft, boutique and hard-to-find brews. For the non-beer drinkers, there is a healthy list of shooters and cocktails, all with American twists. For those in for a big night, there are six boilermakers (beer cocktails) available as well.

The food is more northern than White Oaks' southern fare, but excellent as well. Think Californian burritos, fast food but not unhealthy, and tasty chilli, beans and macaroni and cheese, and that's Silverlake. While the venue has only been open a month as of December 2016, as it settles and finds its groove, it will be a perfect after-work spot for a quick and casual drink and bite to eat, or a meeting place for friends who like trying new and exciting beers, cocktails and drinks.
